A successful and beneficial therapy starts with the relationship that we build together. My priority is to understand your experience and your needs while providing an environment that is warm, safe, and supportive for you to work through difficult and painful life struggles. There is no judgment or pressure here. 

People often come into therapy not fully knowing what it is they’d like to change, or where it is they’re looking to end up. This is okay and actually very common. You may only be aware up front that something needs to shift or is feeling unsettled. The answers generally take shape organically as the process unfolds.


At our first session, I’d like to hear what brings you to me while also starting to learn about you and your life. Going at your pace, I’d like to get to know you as a person, not only the struggles and obstacles, but also your interests, passions, motivations, and anything else that makes you who you are.

As an integrative therapist, I often mix in various tools and techniques in addition to psychotherapy, as appropriate. These can include contemporary psychoanalysis, affect regulation techniques, grounding exercises, relaxation techniques, somatic focusing (mind-body connection), mindfulness, cognitive-behavioral (CBT) techniques, and others. The approaches we will use are always based on what makes the most sense for you and are decided together.

Nathan Feiles is an integrative psychotherapist and contemporary relational analyst in full time private practice in New York City. He works with people locally (in NYC) in-person and online, and also provides teletherapy for people who live in California or Massachusetts.
